I’m sure what happened to me yesterday than a swirling vortex of anxiety and “hurry up and wait” at work. End result: all is fine, but it was stressful and waiting on execs to officially decide on something about a product I work on.
Anywho, I finished the first two blocks of the Harry Potter bookshelf quilt, done under the “Project of Doom” moniker from Fandom in Stitches. In just pulling scraps I liked for the various elements, it seems I’m really going for saturated jewel tones, which, as it turns out, I really like. Huh.
It’s hard to see in the photo, but I put a silver tulle overlay on my crystal ball fabric so it’s got a bit of shimmer. I’m off to work on the Scrapitude Scrap-in-a-Box Step 1 tonight at my guild sew-in.
this looks like a great project! Paper piecing is my goal for the year… to learn it and do it. I’ve done a little bit over the years but not much… so tempted… I’ve downloaded the pattern and printed it out so that is a start isn’t it? Was thinking of doing the Doctor Who Blocks I downloaded ages ago but this might work too… some impetus to keep me working
I’m excited about the Project of Doom. I’ve got a bunch of fabric pulled and found a great fabric for the crystal ball in my stash. I’ve been wanting to start this for a couple of years, so I’m taking advantage of the quilt along to do it. Your black background looks great. I went with a grungy grey.
Love your paper pieced project. I’ve drooled over some blocks in Fandom for awhile now but have never decided to find the time to do a quilt with some of them. You juggle so darn well! I can’t have more than two or three projects happening or I drop everything. And my finishes are much longer in coming than yours are. I look forward to watching these PP blocks come together. And the tulle on the globe? Genius!
